Real estate ads substantiate this trend as 55 plus communities as well as homes scattered throughout the U.S. describe one and two level homes that offer the master on the main level.

Google® alone shows 3,600 references to "master on main" 

It doesn't matter whether you enjoy one level living because you don't want to be bothered with the stairs, or the fact that you may have a medical condition that demands you spend your time on one level and thus don't have stairs to negotiate.

Whether it is your first home, a luxury home, or a retirement home, finding a master on the main floor can be a challenge.

Of 12,440 homes sold in Portland Oregon in 2003, 7,356 show as having the master on the main.

Of 5,426 Vancouver Washington homes sold in 2003 2,757 had main level master bedrooms.

How does new construction compare?  Of the 6,272 new homes sold 1,610 has main level master bedrooms.

How about luxury homes?  There were 1,365 homes sold for $500,000. or more of which  512 had a master on the main.
